Hydrophilic zao lei serum (formulated algae from the coast of Spain)
Traditional Chinese Medicine actions
Moves qi and blood
Biomedical actions
Clears melanin pigmentation from the skin
Gets Rid Of Age Spots and Melasma
Biomedical information
Acts on melanin deposition and production processes in the skin to improve luminosity and decrease visibility of hyperpigmented areas to balance out the skin tone
It has reduced melan-A protein levels (40%), thus interfering with development of melanosomes
Diminishes the amount of human tyrosinase protein by up to 48.9%, and its activity by 24.3%
Decreases the amount of melanin pigment produced by melanocyte in culture by 61.3%
In acting on melanocytes, resulted in a 69% lower uptake of particles (phagocytosis)
Neutralizes hyperpigmentation, that which is related to age spots, in reconstituted epidermis
It regulates gene expression of melanogenic signaling proteins to reduce the formation and maturation of melanosomes, reduces tyrosinase levels and activity, and reduces melanin update by keratinocytes. Further, it induces the expression of genes involved in DMA repair, which is necessary due to the loss of UV-protective pigment
Lab tested for specific concentration and quality control
Human Study
22 female volunteers of Asian descent (38-53 years old) with hyperpigmented regions of their skin applied a cream with 2% Lumos® or a placebo cream twice a day for 8 weeks
Treatment increased luminance (L*) (2.5%) and inpidual topological angle (ITA) (15.3%), and decreased contrast of dark spots by 12.7%, leading to a great improvement in evenness
The treatment shrank the area of dark spots (6.9%) and decreased their melanin content by 61.1%
